Quezon City, November 11, 2014 –As part of its week-long celebrations, the QC International Pink Film Festival highlights its first “International Gender Rights Forum” slated on December 10-12 at the Trinoma Mall, Cinema 3. Registration starts at 9:30 am and the forum officially opens at 10:00 am.
This 3-day fora will delve on the following themes directly impacting LGBT life in general: Human Rights, Health and Education.
The International Gender Rights Forum brings together several renowned international and local speakers, film connoisseurs, activists and LGBT leaders. This fora serves as an exchange of ideas and best practices between the public and the invited guests.
Seasoned Fil-Am film maker PJ Raval whose work background includes mainstreaming LGBTI issues will talk on LGBT rights as human rights along with other advocates. International documentary director, Kloie Picot whose various works on cases of conflicts, transgender issues, and displaced people will also give her insights. On health, celebrated Cambodian film maker and HIV-AIDS activist Vanna Hem will deliver his presentation on being at the forefront of sex worker’s rights, AIDS advocacy, and other health issues directly concerning the community. From Sweden, gay arts advocate Bill Schiller is invited to also share his perspectives in the forum.
The International Gender Rights Forum is one of the features of the QC International Pink Film Festival that seeks to educate the public about the pressing issues affecting the LGBTI community and is an initiative of the QC Pride Council (QCPC) chaired by Soxie Topacio and the Philippine Initiative on LGBT Pride Advocacy Inc. (PhiLPA) headed by Nick Deocampo who is also the Festival Director.
